Eid-ul-Fitr at MCC

EID-AL-FITR WILL BE CELEBRATED ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 10, 2024

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed (may Allah be pleased with him) that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to go out on the day of ‘Eid and pray two rak’ahs, then he would deliver the Khutbah and enjoin giving charity, and the ones who gave most charity were the women. If he had any exigency or he needed to send an army he would speak of that, if not, he would go back.

Sahih Darussalam

Traffic Plan for Eid ul-Fitr

We are expecting many people for Eid. Due to parking constraints,

  • The MCC complex will be HOV-2 only, and only cars with 2 or more people will be allowed in the facility (with the exception of cars with a valid handicapped tags, pregnant women, and people with disabilities). Please take advantage of this one-time exception and plan to carpool.
  • Note that our elderly community can plan to park at MCC.
  • We strongly suggest a $5.00 parking donation to help with the maintenance of the parking lots
  • MCC will only have 4 prayers and there will not be a 5th Prayer for Eid ul Fitr.
  • We ask that congregants leave promptly after the Eid prayer to allow for spaces to be available for the next prayer. Please arrive 20 minutes before the prayer.

PARKING INFORMATION

Since limited parking is available on the MCC premises, parking will be available at the nearby churches: the St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral on New Hampshire Avenue, Heritage Christian church (please do not park on their grass) and the Lutheran Church of St. Andrew at the intersections of Norwood Road and New Hampshire Avenue.

As usual, there will be an increase in traffic, so please be mindful and follow any parking instructions from volunteers and other officials. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

NOTE: The Lutheran church gives us a partial of the parking lot, as shown in the highlights below, so please follow the volunteers to the designated spots.

Zakatul-Fitr

Zaktul-Fitr is due before the Eid Prayer. Zakat-ul Fitr is a charity given to the poor at the end of fasting in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Zakatul-Fitr should be paid before the Eid Prayer by the head of the household on behalf of each family member. This year the amount has been determined to be $15 per person in a household. Boxes to donate will be made available inside the prayer area, or an online donation can be at the “Zakat ul Fitr” button found here.
