MCC Social Services
We are guided in our work by the Holy Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah, 2-177. Allah is advising us that our worship is incomplete without helping deeds. So after having believed in Allah, the Angels, the Prophets, the Books and the Last Day we must translate our Iman and our beliefs into actions of service to humankind.
Our Work
- FOOD PANTRY: Feeding the poor and needy by distributing, every month, food boxes containing dry food items of daily needs ( see the list). We have verified list of families both local and refugees who are genuinely in need. Special distributions of Halal meat and other special items during Ramadan and the two Eids.
- REFUGEE HELP PROGRAM: Refugees arriving in Maryland are provided help where Agencies stop helping them in the areas of health, housing, food and mentoring.
- REFUGEE ENGLISH PROGRAM (REP) – (Note: This program is currently operating virtually.) Our program recruits volunteer tutors to teach English weekly on a one-to-one basis to adult male and female refugees. Volunteers can attend our Training Sessions and our Meet-up Chat Sessions to learn about teaching techniques and share common experiences in this rewarding volunteer opportunity. We accept:
- Fidya: Feeding poor for not fasting. $10 per person for each day of not fasting.
- Zakatul Fitr: $10 for each person in your family. Pay during Ramadan before Eid Ul-Fitr
- Sadaqa: any amount accepted
- Refugee Help: Pay their rents to save them from evictions. Medical expenses and Cash help for unemployed.
- Widow/Orphans: Monthly support required.
- In-kind food and household items: TBD
How can you donate?
You can click here to donate and select “Food Pantry” for feeding the poor and needy or select “Social Services” for refugee help. You can also make a payable check to MCC and reference “For Food Pantry” or “For Social Services” and hand it in the administration office or mail to our location:
